WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — The Coast Guard has rescued four people after their vessel started taking on water about nine miles off Hatteras Inlet.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that its office in Wilmington received a call for help about 3:15 p.m. Thursday from a 42-foot sport fishing vessel.
The crew of the Matador reported it was taking on water.
The Coast Guard launched two boats from shore stations. The Coast Guard Cutter Cormorant was about 10 miles from the Matador and also responded. The Cormorant arrived shortly before 4 p.m. and the Coast Guard crew was able to stabilize the flooding.
The Coast Guard escorted the Matador to Buxton, where it arrived shortly after 7 p.m.
No one was hurt. The names of those on the fishing boat were not released.
