WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say two people are dead after a monthlong argument with their neighbor ended with a shooting.
Winston-Salem Police said in a news release that 32-year-old Zachary Hobbs used a semi-automatic handgun to fire about a dozen shots around midnight Thursday at his neighbors on their porch.
Authorities say 37-year-old Steven Salsman and 33-year-old Meghann Stubbs were each shot several times and killed. A third person on the porch was wounded.
Police say Hobbs and others in his home have been arguing with his neighbors since moving in a month ago. Investigators didn’t detail the problems between the neighbors.
Hobbs is charged with murder in Stubbs’ death. Police are investigating whether he can claim self-defense in killing Salsman. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
