WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Barbara Mikulski is co-chairing a bipartisan hearing on access to child care.

The Maryland Democrat will co-chair the hearing on Wednesday in Washington with North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr.

The hearing will focus on challenges different states face in implementing the Child Care Development Block Grant Act of 2014 to improve access to affordable child care.

It serves more than 1.4 million children each month, including about 18,000 in Maryland, while their parents work, attend school or receive job training.

At the hearing, Mikulski will introduce Margaret Williams, who is the executive director of the Baltimore-based Maryland Family Network.
