WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Police say two people face charges stemming from the stabbing death of a 44-year-old man in Winston-Salem.
City police tell local media outlets they responded to a call about 4 p.m. on Friday and found Vierl Levan Banks Jr. on the floor of his home. He was taken to a hospital where he died Saturday.
Detectives say the victim was in a fight with 19-year-old Fred Harris Thompson III of Winston-Salem who is charged with murder.
In addition, 33-year-old Katisha Anne Smith of Winston-Salem is charged with accessory after the fact of murder. The two have court appearances this week and it was not immediately known if they have attorneys.
There have been 11 homicides in Winston-Salem so far this year compared to five for the same period last year.
