Authorities accused Hoke County man of burning woman


RED SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing multiple charges after investigators say he burned a woman and her belongings.

WNCN-TV in Raleigh reports (http://bit.ly/1ZEDZE6) 28-year-old Waleid Khalid Kassim Hamoudi of Red Springs is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, felony assault by strangulation and felony burning of personal property.

A statement from the sheriff’s office said deputies received a call on Thursday for an injured woman at a Raeford store. When they reached her, they found she had been assaulted and burned, and she told them her boyfriend had assaulted her.

Deputies went to an address they were given and arrested Hamoudi after noticing blood on his clothing.

Hamoudi is being held without bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
