CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — An Albemarle man has been sentenced to 72 years in prison for shooting at Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers and robbing poker players nearly three years ago.

Multiple media outlets report that 26-year-old Ramar Dion Benjamin Crump was sentenced Tuesday after a Mecklenburg County jury found him guilty of assault with intent to kill, armed robbery, conspiracy, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

The district attorney’s office says Crump in September 2013 fired six shots at police who responded to a 911 call about men loading guns in a car.

Prosecutors said Crump led police on a more than 20-mile chase before his car was stopped in neighboring Cabarrus County.

Crump’s sentence included crimes he pleaded guilty to involving the armed robbery of several poker players.
