HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — A Graham man faces felony death by motor vehicle and other charges stemming from a fatal crash on Interstate 85.
Lt. Jeff Gordon of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol tells local media that 40-year-old Robert Jason Mace caused the Tuesday afternoon crash.
Gordon says the van Mace was driving clipped a stopped tractor-trailer then hit a pickup truck on southbound Interstate 85 in Hillsborough. The van then continued on, crashing into a Toyota pickup truck and causing it to overturn. The van’s front-seat passenger was killed.
The identity of the passenger hasn’t been released.
Mace and the pickup’s driver were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
In addition to felony death by motor vehicle, Mace faces several other charges, including DWI.
It’s unclear if Mace has an attorney.
