FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — One person and three dogs have been found dead following a house fire in Fayetteville.
Fayetteville fire officials tell local news outlets that the blaze happened at the residence early Tuesday morning.
Battalion Chief Mike Martin says firefighters responded to the home around 1 a.m. and found some flames, but mostly smoke coming from the house.
Martin says they found a person’s body in the back part of the house. The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.
Firefighters also found three dogs dead inside the home.
Martin says a man who was inside the home was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
