Police: Burglary suspect caught hiding in store ceiling

BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say they caught a suspected burglar hiding inside the ceiling of a Burlington convenience store.

News outlets report Burlington police say 19-year-old Benjamin Burrough of Burlington was arrested Thursday night at a Citgo on multiple charges, including breaking and entering.

Police say officers went to the store after the clerk reported someone entering a restroom and climbing into the ceiling in an effort to steal from the store around closing time.

Investigators suspect Burrough was trying to get to the office through the ceiling.

Officers removed ceiling tiles and used a ladder to get into the ceiling, where they discovered the suspect hiding. They also say they found a backpack containing burglary tools.

It’s unclear whether Burrough has an attorney.
