CHESTER, S.C. (AP) — The S.C. Highway Patrol says a North Carolina woman is in jail on a charge stemming from a fatal wreck in Chester County one week ago.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/2boJC6t) jail records show 30-year-old Alicia Hughes of Thomasville, North Carolina, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death. She is being held without bond in the Chester County Detention Center.
According to the patrol, Hughes was driving a Honda sedan that crossed the center line on U.S. 21 in Chester County last Sunday and hit head-on a Mercury in which 34-year-old Jermaine Chandler of Lancaster was a passenger. Chandler was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland, where he died.
Troopers said Hughes and the other driver were injured, but the second driver’s condition was not available Friday.
