WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — The Coast Guard is searching for a man missing while diving off the North Carolina coast.
The Coast Guard said in a release that it was alerted that a diver from a vessel had an equipment failure and failed to resurface while diving late Thursday morning.
The vessel the man was diving from, the Atlantis, was about 30 miles southeast of Cape Fear at the time.
Two Coast Guard boats and a helicopter were sent to the scene. Two Coast Guard cutters were also en route to assist in the search.
The name of the missing diver has not been released.
