MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Gaston is changing little in strength as it moves in the Atlantic.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds Wednesday are near 70 mph (110 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says although Gaston could become a hurricane later in the day, some weakening is forecast on Thursday.

Gaston is centered about 1,020 miles (1,645 kilometers) west of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving west-northwest near 16 mph (26 kph).

The storm is not currently a threat to land.
