RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A Kure Beach man sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of two people in a 2014 condominium fire has been sentenced in the deaths of two men struck by his car during a snow storm earlier that year.
Media outlets reported 23-year-old Marshall Doran was sentenced Monday in Raleigh for the deaths.
Doran was sentenced to between four and six years for felony hit and run in the Feb. 13, 2014, deaths of 35-year-old Nathaniel Williams of Hope Mills and 40-year-old Larry Kepley of Winston-Salem. They were trying to help a stranded vehicle on Interstate 40.
Judge Henry Hight said he accepted the plea only because Doran was sentenced to life for the deaths of 43-year-old Darlene Maslar and 72-year-old Mary Cochran in a fire at Carolina Beach.
