CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Busy Interstate 85 through Cabarrus County northeast of Charlotte couldn’t exactly be called an expressway this weekend.

Southbound lanes of the highway were closed for varying amounts of time slowing traffic to a crawl after three separate accidents on Saturday.

The first happened on Saturday morning when a pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler and then burst into flames. Later in the day, another 18-wheeler overturned, spilling canned goods across the highway.

Then about 8 o’clock Saturday night there was still another accident. The North Carolina Department of Transportation says all lanes on the highway were reopened by late Saturday night. There were no immediate reports of injuries in any of the accidents.
