WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Police say a driver is facing charges after he hit a man who was waiting for his church bus in Winston-Salem.
Winston-Salem police tell media outlets in a news release that the incident happened early Sunday morning.
Investigators say 37-year-old Erik Randolph was driving when his van left the road and hit 32-year-old Steven Stewart who was standing on the sidewalk waiting for a bus.
The van then hit a utility pole causing a temporary power outage in the area.
Both men were taken to the hospital.
Police say Stewart is recovering from injuries to the lower part of his body.
Police say Randolph was charged with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and failure to maintain lane.
It isn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
