THOMASVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. (ODFL) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $81.4 million.
On a per-share basis, the Thomasville, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of 98 cents.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 94 cents per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $755.4 million in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $756.1 million.
Old Dominion shares have climbed 15 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 1.5 percent in the last 12 months.
