ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) — CSX is holding a pair of public meeting this week to talk about the railroad company’s plan for a terminal in Rocky Mount that will move freight from trucks to trains.

The company’s first meeting is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the auditorium in the Edgecombe County Administrative Building. A second meeting will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Nash Community College’s Brown Auditorium in Tarboro.

People are invited to submit comments. They can also comment on the Edgecombe County intermodal cargo hub by calling 877-835-5379 or emailing [email protected].

North Carolina will spend about $100 million for track improvements and other transportation infrastructure, plus tax breaks worth up to $4 million. About 150 new jobs are expected.

Landowners forced CSX to scrap a plan to build the hub in Johnston County.
