SYLVA, N.C. (AP) — Another 50 acres is being added to what will be a park within a park along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Local media outlets report that the Conservation Trust for North Carolina has purchased the land known as the Open Branch Headwaters Property along the parkway.

It’s located near Waterrock Knob in Jackson County near Asheville and includes mountains rising to 5,400 feet. About 5,000 acres of conservation land in the area will become known as Waterrock Knob Park later this summer.

The trust closed on the property late last month.
