CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Officials say a power outage shut down some rides at Carowinds theme park a few hours over the weekend, just days after a blown transformer was blamed for a power outage that left people stranded on at least three rides at the theme park on the North Carolina-South Carolina line.

Media outlets report Carowinds spokeswoman Laresa Thompson said in a statement that the outage stopped rides in a portion of the park shortly before noon Sunday.

Thompson says those rides were shut down and guests were evacuated.

WBTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1UuZvai) Duke Energy spokeswoman Paige Layne said a bad underground cable was to blame. Layne said the problem was isolated and power was restored a few hours later.

On Thursday night, people were left stranded on at least three rides at the park. It took about two hours to get people off WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall ride meant to simulate flying.
