CORNELIUS, N.C. (AP) — One person has died after being pulled from Lake Norman north of Charlotte.

Multiple media outlets reported that fire department officials initially said they had rescued a swimmer who had been under the water for about 10 minutes.

Police in Cornelius say the person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center and died. The victim’s name has not been released.

It was the third death at Lake Norman in just over a week.

The others were fire Capt. Bradley Long and 29-year-old Isia Cruz, a swimmer who disappeared June 5. Long was a rescue diver who died June 6 while searching for Cruz’s body.
