LAS VEGAS (AP) — Attorneys for Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil say they’re investigating what led to a misdemeanor battery charge accusing Neil of grabbing a woman’s hair and pulling her to the ground in April outside a Las Vegas Strip resort.

The 55-year-old Neil didn’t appear in court Tuesday with attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld.

They’ve pleaded not guilty on his behalf. A judge set a Sept. 19 trial date.

Outside court, Chesnoff said he needs to review the evidence before he can comment.

The case came to light after bystander video showed actor Nicolas Cage physically restraining Neil before police arrived April 7 outside the Aria casino-hotel.

Neil wasn’t arrested at the time. Cage wasn’t accused of a crime.

Neil has had several scrapes with the law over the years.
