Police officer in road rage killing stripped of badge, gun

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City policeman involved in a road rage killing has been stripped of his badge and gun.

New York Police Department officials said Monday that Officer Wayne Isaacs was placed on modified assignment after a security video appeared to cast doubt on an initial version of the fatal shooting of another motorist.

The shooting of Delrawn Small occurred July 4 in Brooklyn while Isaacs was off duty. A passenger with Small says he thought Isaacs cut him off and got out his car to confront Isaacs.

Police initially said they believed Isaacs opened fire only after Small punched him while he sat behind the wheel of his car. But a grainy security video appears to show Small getting gunned down the moment he walked up to the officer’s car.

The union representing Isaacs has declined to comment.
