MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say a Philadelphia woman charged in the deaths of her children admits suffocating her 7-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter with a bed sheet during a visit to South Florida.

A Miramar police report released Thursday says 40-year-old Sophia Hines took a bed sheet and held it over the mouth of her son, St. Leo. The report says she then used the same bed sheet to cover the mouth of her daughter, Ariel.

Hines was visiting a relative’s home in Miramar. She was being held at the Broward County Jail on two counts of premeditated murder. No attorney was listed to represent her.

According to the report, Miramar Fire Rescue responded to the 911 call Wednesday evening and pronounced both victims dead.

Police say Hines has offered no explanation.
