James Gary Campbell, 57, of Rockingham, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham with Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will see friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham, and at other times at the home.
Campbell was born Dec. 12, 1955, in Richmond County, a son of Ethel Rainwater Campbell and the late Walter “Jack” Campbell Jr. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed with Brown Creek Correctional Institution. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Campbell and brother, Eddie Campbell.
Surviving are his wife, Kimberly Grooms Campbell of the home; son, Samuel Campbell of Rockingham; daughters, Nikki Campbell of Marston, Shellie Campbell of Charlotte, Heather Campbell of Rockingham; six grandchildren and his mother, Ethel Campbell of Rockingham.
