James Roger Allred, Sr. 87, of Ellerbe, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Allred was born May 14, 1925 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Thurman and Martha Tucker Allred. He had served his country in the US Marines during World War II and was involved in the Invasion of Okinawa. He was an active member of Concord United Methodist Church, a farmer and a tractor trailer owner/operator.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Maxine Ermine Cole Allred of the home; sons, James Roger Allred, Jr. and wife Brenda , David Cole Allred and Robert Kevin Allred, all of Ellerbe; sisters, Josephine “Jo” Allred Hopper of Charlotte, Margaret Allred Hunsucker and husband Bill of Spartanburg, SC and a grandson, James Ian Allred and wife Brandi of Laurinburg.

A service to celebrate Mr. Allred’s life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Concord United Methodist Church near Ellerbe with Rev. Dena White and Rev. Roger Paxton officiating. Interment will be held privately.

The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

I did not know this Marine or his family,but im sorry for his passing but wanted to thank him for his serving in the US Marines protecting this country.Rest In Pease Sir,Semper FI
