Bessie Mae Raines Hines, 91, of 840 Capel Mill Road, Ellerbe, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Dena White and Rev. Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Chappell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Born Aug. 14, 1920, in Surry County, a daughter of the late John and Cora Noah Raines, Bessie was a homemaker and alongside her husband operated a family farm in Ellerbe. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; her brothers, Clyde, Harry, Oma, and Fred Raines; sisters, Versie Raines Moore and Agnes Raines McDonald.

She is survived by her sons, Alan and Lester W. Hines of Ellerbe, brothers; Arnold Raines of Kannapolis, Clarence Raines of Ellerbe, Ralph Raines of Cordova; sisters; Thelma Clarke of Falls Church, Va., Nolan Raines Brookshire of Mt. Gilead; and one step grandchild.
