On March 16, Carol’s Daughter will hold a hairstyling event, with stylist De Shawn Spears, at Belk on 1305 E. Broad Ave., Rockingham, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This free event will showcase Carol’s Daughter, a complete line of hair, skin and body products that are made with natural ingredients.

“I started my company over 18 years ago and it began in my kitchen with my love for fragrance,” said Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter.

Price said she started making bath oils and body butters and took the products out to fairs to sell them. “People were interested in the butter but, repeatedly, woman would come up to the table and they would say ‘Well, what do you have for hair? I need something to make my hair softer. I need something that’s going to make my hair longer,’” she said.

Price said she then started making haircare products. “One of the most important lessons I learned was how critical it is to listen to the customer and give her what she wants,” she said.

“I think it’s a great product. We are very fortunate to have this product in the store,” said Peggy Treadaway, sales clerk at Belk.

Treadaway said she uses the product every day and she is excited about the event.

According to Belinda Kendall, midwest territory manager for Carol’s Daughter, De Shawn Spears is a celebrity stylist that has worked on the TV show “America’s Next Top Model” and is the stylist for Andrew Michael’s Studios, a celebrity photographer.

Although the event is free, appointments are required. To make an appointment contact Peggy Treadaway, or Michelle Hollifield, the store manager of Belk at 910-997-2221.
