The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. A private interment will be held at a later date.
William was born in Moore County on Dec. 2, 1951. He was the son of Ester Ruth Currie and the late Auman Currie and the husband of the late Betty Pankey. He served proudly as a member of the United States Army and worked in trucking for Allen Trucking Company.
In addition to his father and wife, William was also preceded in death by a son, William Pankey and grandchildren, Kristopher Bennett, Dannie Chavis and Benjamin Pankey.
He is survived by his children, sons, Jerry “Randy” Lemmons of Hamlet, Theron Pankey of New York, Cody Ferrell of Ellerbe; daughters, Katherine Clarke and husband Charles of Danville, Va., Tina Hefferan and husband Gary of Greer, S.C., Stacy Aaronson of Hamlet, Sandra Pankey O’Mara of Newport News, Va., Elizabeth Pankey Abar of New York, Tracy Pankey of South Carolina; his mother, Ester Ruth Currie of Rockingham; a brother, Sidney Currie of Rockingham; sister, Janet Greene and husband Tim of Troy; 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
