The Town of Hoffman celebrated the grand opening of the old Hoffman School at what's temporarily known as the Hoffman Conference and Recreational Center.

The first Saturday in October has traditionally been celebrated as “Hoffman Day” at the Beaver Dam Community Center #1 on Hwy1 North. This year, it too was celebrated at the old Hoffman school in a joint venture with the town.

The BDCC not only sponsored a raffle for monetary prizes but also had free hotdogs and drinks to the first 150 people to arrive sold a variety of country dinners.

Mayor Jo Ann Jasper-Thomas kicked off the event, which drew a number of local officials and the Richmond County Lion’s Club.

The "Taylor Town Steppers" got the ball rolling followed by the Richmond County Senior Dancers.  The two even joined together to perform the "Electric Slide and the "Cupid Shuffle". There was a large outdoor, air filled bouncer for the entertainment of the children along with the playground equipment. Prizes were donated by Four Oaks Bank, The Meeting Place Market, in Hoffman and Mayor Thomas. "DJ Jazzy Jeff" was on hand to provide dance music for all.

There will be a Christmas celebration on Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
