Rockingham Mustang All-Stars pitcher Johnathan Lee delivers to the plate during a section tournament game against Garner last week. Lee and his teammates begin regional tournament play in Virginia today.
The Rockingham Mustang All-star team will make the long trip to Kempsville, Va. today to try and obtain a spot in the next round of the Pony tournament.

Rockingham completed a four game sweep of the sectional tournamen last weekend, to move onto the regional tournament with their eyes on the bigger picture.

For one of the coaches on the Mustang squad, this week’s action brings back fond memories of his childhood.

The last time the Rockingham Mustang team won the sectional tournament was 25 years ago. Mark Rohleder was a player on that team.

Now, Rohleder is a coach and his son Myles currently plays on the team.

Rockingham will once again have to look to the strong offense and defensive play if they want to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Last week at the section tournament in Archdale, Rockingham won three of its four games by 10-run rule.

Rockingham will play tonight at 8 p.m. against Stokesdale, NC.
