The annual DJ in the Park was held Saturday at the Beaver Dam Community Center #1, Inc. The DJ was “Jazzy Jeff” of Hoffman. Tournaments is various sports were held throughout the day.

Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Jones, Rev. Robert L. Dockery, Board of Directors and Committee members organized the day’s events.

The Rockingham Wildcats softball team defeated the BDCC-Tiger and the BDCC men’s basketball defeated the Blood Hounds. Basketball’s most valuable player was Luther Harrison. Other activities included musical chairs.

Chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, soda and bottled water was served to more than 250 people who attended. Door prizes were also given away.

In the second part of the activities, all those who participated in DJ in the Park event were recognized in a special Father’s Day morning worship service at Macedonia Baptist Church in Hoffman The pastor was Rev. Robert L. Dockery.

“It was a great turn out,” Daniel Kelly said. “We had over 50 people to come out and enjoy festivities.”

Softball team winners were Jonathan Reddick, Diamante Wood, Kevin Allen, Jamar Allen and coach Andren Short.

The recent graduates were also recognized on June 20. “We are very proud of them, last year we only had three graduates and this year we have10,” Kelly said.
