About 30,000 marijuana plants were seized Thursday in what the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office calls the largest bust of a grow operation in the county.

Two suspects, Julio Lopez, 23, and Maria Flores, 28, both of Capel Mill Road, Ellerbe, have been charged and are under $500,000 bond at the Richmond County Jail.

The operation was located in the forest behind their home, and covered an acre or more of land, according to the sheriff’s office.
