Work on the Perdue Farms Rockingham processing plant won’t cut back the hours of workers, according to company officials.
The corporation has begun a $2.3 million project to replace parts of the roof on the facility, which is expected to last several months.
“This is a major roof renovation project,” Perdue Vice President of Corporate Communications Louis Luna said. “The work is going to be done around the work schedule and weekends, so as not to disrupt the operation of the plant.”
Luna said the project reflects Perdue’s investment in its Rockingham facility.
The plant is the largest private employer in Richmond County, with more than 1,300 workers.
Local plant officials declined to comment.
