Sue Ferguson Maples, 84, went to be with her Lord, March 28, 2010 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

She was the dearly beloved wife of 58 years of A.K. Maples, who preceded her to heaven.

She was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Wake County, a daughter of the late CC “Buck” Ferguson and Florence Bennett Ferguson. She was the youngest of three children. Her sister Gertha Warren and brother Jack Ferguson preceded her.

Mrs. Maples retired from Southern National Bank in 1986 as assistant operations officer in the Hamlet Branch. Sue was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Rockingham and the Gideons Auxiliary. In her younger years she had been a long time Sunday School teacher.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Kearse and Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

She is survived by a son, Harry Maples of Hamlet, and by her nephews: JD Maples of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bill Maples of Vass, NC, Hamp Weatherly of Southern Pines, NC, Pat Maples of Hamlet, Joe Maples of Hamlet, David Weatherly of Lexington, NC and Chris Ferguson of New Hill, NC.

The family received friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet.
