The three-member panel unanimously dismissed the challenge to Parker’s candidacy, affirming he is a resident of Richmond County.
Lilesville resident Faye Gathings filed the candidacy challenge alleging Parker actually lives in Moore County with the Anson County Board of Elections in February.
Gathings and her legal representation have the right to appeal the decision in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

I am glad that this ordeal is over. It is time for a change in Richmond County, I hope the County realizes this now and we can move on from the days of dirty politics and stealing elections.
Parker is good man and I am glad he is there to fight for us and that he fought for himself in this one. It would have been easy just to walk away I am sure he could have made more money in private practice.
Thank you Mr. Parker, you have my vote.
I have no idea why Mr. Robinette telephoned Michael Parker's neighbors and asked them to write a statement and deliver it to him before Sheriff Furr's detective interviewed them. But I do wonder ...
I understand that on the day of the hearing Mr. Saunders and Judge Brewer drove together to Stanly County where Mr. Saunders spent the day introducing himself to the people who work in the courthouse. Am I the only one who sees some impropriety in that?
I believe former President Clinton once said "Politics is a contact sport". Even contact sports have rules and referees.
Newswatcher, I too am proud of Michael Parker and his family. I know them and know their heads were held high because they had, and have, nothing to hide or be ashamed of.
Whether or not the challenger chooses to appeal the decision made by the Board of Elections, the show will now go on and I have no doubt what so ever that an appeal will result in validating the Board's decision.
The obvious question now is whether we want an experienced prosecutor who has proven his integrity, character, honesty, and transparency or a career defense attorney. District Attorney Michael Parker gets my vote.
The underlying question is whether we want our District Attorney to be someone who doesn't bend, or even appear to bend, to the winds of politics and favor. District Attorney Michael Parker gets my vote.
I see this as but yet another power grab by the Sheriff and I am glad the the Board made the decision that it did.
What I would like to see the Daily Journal do now is to follow up on the rumors and statements made about the persons leveling this charge. Did Dale Furr commit perjury under oath? Why is Kenneth Robinette so deeply involved with Dale Furr? Is it because of what Dale Furr has done for his family and cover up illegal acts by family members? Has the Sheriffs Department ever committed the type of resourses it did to this investigation (2 deputies for over 80 days)? With all the Drugs, Unsolved House Break in's and problems with other cases it seems like a huge waste of manpower.
It is obvious this is what it appeared to be from the start. A power grab by Dale Furr, He is retiring and is not worried about having to work with Mr. Parker anymore and saw this a an opportunity to play dirty politics. I believe he has misused his office.
The real victims in all this besides the tax payers of Richmond County is Mr. Parkers family who had to be drug into this. They must be good people to be put through all they have and still hold thier head up. I wish them the best.
