Mrs. Lillie Belle Ingram Covington, 80 of 304 S. Long Drive Rockingham,

died on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Sandhills Regional Medical Center, NC. She was born December 12, 1928 in Moore County, daughter of the late Neal and Clara Ingram.

She was valedictorian of Academy Heights High School Class and attended Sandhills Community College and Shaw University. She was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Clara Cornelia (Sonny) and Sharon Kaye. Also her four sisters and two brothers, Idelle, Helen, Connie, Inez, Alvin and Neal, Jr. preceded her in death.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service in Rockingham.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Gary Agee, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter C. Covington Sr; daughters, Willena Robinson of New Jersey, M. Maria Covington of the home; sons, Walter Covington Jr. and Jeffrey Covington of Rockingham; step-daughter, Claretha Wallace of Winston-Salem; sisters, Shirley Pearson of Aberdeen and Addie Cornish of Southern Pines; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
