RSHS falls short in X-C meet

SOUTHERN PINES —The Richmond Senior men’s cross country team finished in sixth place and the women’s team was fifth in the Southeastern Conference tournament at Pinecrest High School Tuesday afternoon.

Pinecrest men’s and women’s captured the conference tournament meet. In the men’s meet, Purnell Swett finished second behind the Patriots, followed by Lumberton, Scotland, Hoke and Richmond.

Eli Locklear had the fastest time for the Raiders, finishing eighth in a time of 19:05. Locklear was selected on the all-conference team.

For the women, Pinecrest finished first, followed by Lumberton, Swett, Scotland, Richmond and Hoke.

Tynikia Little ran the fastest time for the Lady Raiders, finishing 38th in a time of 28:29.

The Richmond cross country team will compete in the regional championship meet on Oct. 30 at South View High School.
