Young cadets to learn about police department

Twenty-six young cadets begin a week-long Junior Police Academy Monday at the Rockingham Police Department.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day they will be learning about the functions of the police department and participate in special activities.

Among major events are:

n On Monday, cadets will interact with a K-9 unit and learn about how it operates.

n On Tuesday, cadets will process a simulated crime scene.

n On Wednesday, cadets will spend the afternoon with the department’s SWAT unit.

n On Thursday, cadets will engage in house and vehicle searches for evidence gathering.

n On Friday, cadets will be involved in a simulated undercover surveillance and raid.

The academy is a free event for students conducted by the police department. Lunch is provided each day.

Those completing the academy are presented certificates at a public observance.

Hey I wonder if the Chief knows that Bruce Stanback needs a new job helping the kids! He could go to the police department and be the cadet manager! Bruce here is a perfect chance for you to help the kids, after all it is "all about the kids"!
