Timber cut illegally in Ashley Chapel

Some $50,000 worth of timber was cut off land on Mary Wall Road in the Ashley Chapel Community according to Capt. John Glidewell, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

In stealing the timber, $5,000 worth of damage was done to the property.

The timber and property is owned by an 89-year-old man who lives in Philadelphia, Pa.

Incidents reported to the sheriff’s office include:

n On Rogosin Street, Rockingham, someone cut two tires on a vehicle causing $50 damage.

n The windshield of a vehicle while on U.S. 220 at Billy Covington Road, Rockingham, cracked causing $400 damage.

n Electronic games and equipment valued at $450 were stolen from a house on McKeithan Drive, Hoffman.

n Someone keyed a vehicle at a residence on Palm Tree Lane, Hamlet, causing $1,000 damage.

n At a house on Pear Street, Hamlet, a 52-year-old woman told deputies she was hit on the head with a hammer by a suspect.

n At a house on Meadow Lane, Hamlet, a 40-year-old woman told deputies a suspect punched her in the face and head.

Incidents reported to Rockingham Police Department include:

n Someone broke into a vehicle parked at apartments on Cabel Drive, Rockingham, with $10 worth of property stolen along with an unknown amount of change and a checkbook for a closed bank account.

n A backboard of a basketball goal valued at $25 was stolen from a residence on Allen Street, Rockingham.

n A leaf blower valued at $350 was stolen from a vehicle at a parking lot at Falling Creek PIaza Shopping Center, Rockingham, and later recovered where it was left at a pawn shop when someone tried to pawn if for suspects who stole it. Still missing is a stolen weed trimmer valued at $250.

n Jonathan Chavis, 23, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. Bond was set at $500.

n Shante Dekea Nicholson, 19, April Lane, Rockingham, was issued a citation for misdemeanor larceny. A 15-year-old girl involved in the same case was referred to juvenile authorities.

n Kevin Eugene Morgan, 36, Village Terrace, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of assault on a female. He was held in Richmond County Jail until a judge set bond.
