Richmond summer league senior team falls in opener to Pinecrest

SOUTHERN PINES — The Richmond Raiders baseball senior summer league team committed seven errors and dropped their season opener 6-2 to Pinecrest Monday.

Jordan Rankin led the Raiders in the loss by going 2-for-3 with a home run and drove in two runs batted in. Andy Shuler went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Raiders’ starter Pete Howe went four innings and gave up one run before being replaced by Reese Anderson, who pitched three innings and gave up five runs.

The Richmond junior summer league team against Pinecrest was canceled and no make up date has been announced. The junior team hosts Union Pines at Raider Field at 5 p.m. today. The senior team returns to action against Hoke at 7 p.m. today.
