Twelve injured in local accidents

Twelve people have been injured in seven recent motor vehicle accidents, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

At 1:24 p.m. March 15 on U.S. 1 south of Rockingham, two people were injured in a collision of two vehicles.

Crystal Gayle Roseberry, 24, of Thomasville; and a passenger in her vehicle, K. Cartrette of Garland, were taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.

Roseberry was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

The other vehicle involved was driven by Lance Edward Jackson of Clemmons.

Roseberry’s 1998 Jeep received $10,000 damage; Jackson’s 2007 GMC, $3,000.

The patrol said two people went to FHRMH following a single-vehicle accident at 8:30 p.m. March 15 on Ford Hill Road, Rockingham,

Joseph Henry Sellers, 47, Hylan Avenue, Hamlet; and Justin Allen Lynch, 17, Bell Drive, Rockingham, went to the hospital after the accident, the patrol said.

A car driven by Berry Austin Lynch of Chestnut Lane, Rockingham, went off the road at the intersection with Blewett Falls Road and struck several trees, the patrol said.

Berry Lynch was cited for a stop sign violation, no operator’s license and failure to give notice of an accident to the patrol.

The 1997 Ford driven by Lynch received $2,000 damage.

Adam Daniel Roscoe, 18, of Osborne Road, Rockingham, was injured, the patrol said, in an accident at 10 p.m. March 15 on Loch Haven Road, Rockingham.

He was taken to FHRMH.

The patrol said the vehicle he was driving left the roadway, went down an embankment, struck several trees and overturned.

The 1999 Chrysler he was driving received $6,000 damage.

Two vehicles collided at 7:15 p.m. March 16 at the intersection of Fire Tower and Haywood Parker Roads in Ellerbe, the patrol said.

C. Robert Ferrell, 21, Fire Tower Road, was taken to FHRMH after the accident.

The vehicle he was driving collided with one driven by James Brice Carriker Jr. of Crawford Road, Ellerbe.

Carriker was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

His 2005 Ford received $10,000 damage; the 1989 Ford driven by Ferrell, $5,000.

Lakeisha Keona Funes, 26, JFK Drive, Rockingham, was taken to FHRMH after an accident at 2:37 p.m. March 18 on U.S. 74 Business east of Hamlet.

She was cited for not wearing a seat belt after the patrol said for some unknown reason she left the back seat of the vehicle in which she was riding as it was traveling west on U.S. 74.

The vehicle was driven by Johnathan Lamont Johnson of South Long Drive, Rockingham, the patrol said.

Three people were taken to FHRMH following an accident at 1:30 p.m. March 20 on U.S. 1 south of Hoffman.

James Lee Winchester of Durham was cited for failure to reduce speed after the patrol said his vehicle struck one driven by Phyllis Romero, 44, Bill Nicholson Road, Ellerbe.

Romero and two passengers were taken to FHRMH. They were Jacqueline Clark, 45, of Rockingham; and H. Romero.

The Jeep driven by Winchester received $1,000 damage; the 1997 Jeep driven by Romero, $1,000.

At 10:18 p.m. March 20 on Rosalyn Road, Rockingham, two people were taken to FHRMH following a two-vehicle accident, the patrol said.

One driver, Heather Lynn McLamb, 23, of 8th Street, Aleo, Rockingham, was cited for improper passing. The other driver, Carlos Jose Caquias-Irizarry, 29, Battley Dairy Road, Rockingham, was cited for driving while license revoked. Both were taken to the hospital.

The 1993 Ford driven by Caquias-Irizarry received $1,800 damage; McLamb’s 1992 Honda, $1,800.
