Prepare to be impressed as hundreds of students, along with art and music teachers, gear up for an annual tradition. The Richmond County Schools Arts Alive! Celebration will be held Thursday and Friday, March 7-8 at the Cole Auditorium, 1042 W. Hamlet Ave., Hamlet.

Since the program’s beginning in 2001, student artists and performers have showcased their talents in music and art for Richmond County parents, community members and educators. Arts Alive! will maintain its format from last year by hosting two days of performances and the art exhibit. Band performances will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. Choral groups will perform starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Once again, students will perform in all county groups, rather than as individual schools.

The musical performances were broken down into two parts to shorten the event time. Patrons of both concerts will be asked to remain in the auditorium for the full length of the concert.

Art and music teachers encourage parents and community members to come out and view the hard work and creativity students have worked to demonstrate in their classrooms.

Arts Alive! celebrates National Youth Art Month, and National Music in Our Schools Month which are held every March. It is important that families and their students remain excited about the arts, and the Arts Alive program has become a staple in generating that enthusiasm every year.
