Floyd Allred, 85, of Greenwich, Connecticut, died Friday, February 1st, at Greenwich Hospital of natural causes.

Born November 1, 1927, in Richmond County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Jeter Alexander Allred, Sr. and Montie Copeland Allred. He grew up in Ellerbe, North Carolina and was graduated by Ellerbe School. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duke University, he received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Denver.

He had a successful career of 47 years in business publication advertising sales before retiring in 1996 from the publication Supermarket News which he helped start and where he had worked for 44 years.

He was a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut, since 1973, where he was a member of The Second Congregational Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of The Seventh Regiment in New York City.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carola Allred, of Greenwich, Connecticut; by his three children, Christopher, Timothy, and Pamela Allred; by Timothy’s wife, Sophia Skiles and their two children, Beckett and Iris, all of New York State; by his sister, Jean Taylor and her family; and by his sister-in-law, Bernice Allred and her family all of Charlotte, North Carolina. His younger brother, Jeter Alexander Allred, Jr., and his older brother, Roger Howard Allred, Sr., predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 8th at 3PM at Second Congregational Church in Greenwich, Connecticut.
