Applications are now available for area students to fill out to receive scholarships through The Cole Foundation.

Richmond County high school graduates can go to www.fftc.org/scholarships to fill out the application. Two need-based scholarships are available, The Cole Scholarship Fund and the Sally Cole Visual Arts Scholarship Program.

The Cole Foundation annually awards up to $5,000 to deserving Richmond County high school graduates to attend four-year institutions through its Cole Scholarship Fund, providing access to higher education and encouraging more students in Richmond County to complete undergraduate studies.

The Cole Foundation also awards up to $7,500 for high school graduates from Richmond County with demonstrated aptitude and career potential in the visual arts through its Sally Cole Visual Arts Scholarship Program.

The scholarships are part of the Cole Foundation’s effort to give back to the community and to ensure that students from Richmond County have the opportunity to enrich their lives through post-secondary education.

Each scholarship application is submitted to a committee of residents of Richmond County. The committee consists of about eight residents who review the applications.

The application deadline is March 1, 2013. Prospective applicants can obtain an application by visiting Foundation For The Carolinas’ website at www.fftc.org/scholarships.

Established in 1968, the Cole Foundation is a permanent endowment fund of Foundation For The Carolinas that serves a broad range of charitable, educational, religious, literary and cultural purposes. Since its inception in 1989, The Cole Foundation has awarded more than $21.6 million in grants to more than 125 nonprofit organizations. The number of scholarships available depends on how much money is allotted to the scholarships fund from the Cole Foundation.
