Congressman-elect Richard Hudson announced his district staff and the location of his first district office on Monday. Hudson, who is replacing U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell, will be sworn in Jan. 3 as the new House member for North Carolina’s Eighth District, which includes Richmond County.
“I’m very excited about the team we’ve put together here in North Carolina,” Hudson said.
The members of Hudson’s district staff will be officially announced on Jan. 3 and are, Chris Carter, Georgia Lozier, Elizabeth Edwards, Fiorda Lazimi and Chris Maples.
Chris Carter is the District Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. Carter previously served as Campaign Manager for Hudson. Prior to the campaign, Carter worked for Congressman Mick Mulvaney in his Washington, D.C., office. Carter received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Concord.
Georgia Lozier is the Director of Constituent Services. Lozier most recently served as Deputy District Director for Congressman Kissell. Prior to joining Kissell’s office, Lozier worked in manufacturing, both in sales and management. Lozier is the mother of two and her children attend Cabarrus County Schools.
Elizabeth Edwards is the Constituent Relations Manager. Before joining the Office of Hudson, Edwards served on the Congressional campaign staff of Congressman-elect Robert Pittenger and State Representative Fred Steen. She was a Constituent Service Representative for three years in the Office of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole. Edwards received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Fiorda Lazimi, the caseworker, brings a strong background as an advocate and problem-solver from the Crumley Roberts Law Firm, where she assisted in developing the Social Security Department. Lazimi received her bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chris Maples is the Constituent Relations Manager for Rockingham and is a former social studies teacher. He served as Congressman-elect Hudson’s campaign manager for Richmond County before becoming the Constituent Relations Manger.
Born and raised in Rockingham, Maples graduated from Richmond Senior High school in 1989. He entered the U.S. Navy after high school from 1991-1995. Maples then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in history and his master’s degree in teaching from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
He said he is excited and honored that Hudson chose him to work with. “Him and I get along great,” Maples said. Maples is currently pursuing his doctorate in executive leadership from Wingate University.
Hudson said, “Providing first-rate constituent service is my top priority and we’ve assembled a team with the necessary experience, work ethic, and commitment to go ‘above and beyond’ to fulfill the needs of our constituents.”
In addition to announcing his new staff, Hudson also announced his Concord District Office will be located at 325 McGill Ave., Suite 500, Concord, NC 28027.
This is the same office vacated by Congressman Kissell and the office phone number will also remain 704-786-1612.
Other District Office locations are under consideration and details are forthcoming. Hudson’s Concord office will open on Jan. 3.
