Mrs. Elaine “Rockie” Price Davenport, 66, of 601 Rollins Ave., Hamlet died Monday, December 30, 2012 at Sandhills Regional Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1946 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Vance Edward Price and Mildred Gibson Price.
Mrs. Davenport was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamlet. She was retired from the Richmond County School System, where she taught at Hamlet Junior High School and, then, became a guidance counselor at Richmond Senior High. She spent over twenty years as a counselor at Richmond Senior and during her tenure became the chair of that department.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 1st at First Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Randy Bishop officiating.
Mrs. Davenport is survived by her husband, Glenn Davenport; a daughter, Pam Satterfield and husband Cory of Rockingham; a son, Ken Davenport and wife Ginger of Rockingham; four grandchildren, Dylan Davenport, Taylor Satterfield, Ashton Davenport, and Katie Satterfield; siblings, Larry Price and wife Lynda of Charlotte, Kay Hunt and husband Pete of Hamlet, and Don Price and wife Debbie of Rockingham; mother-in-law, Margie Medlin of Hamlet; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
