Mrs. Sarah Ruth Efird Allen, 78, of 242 Crestview Dr., Rockingham passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at 7:00 pm surrounded by her family at home. Sarah was born in Montgomery County July 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Foster Efird, Sr. and Ora Anderson Efird.
Mrs. Allen was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church and owned and worked at the Crestview Trading Post of Rockingham (the yarn shop). She worked at Richmond Academy school from ‘72 –’76. Mrs. Allen loved to travel. She went overseas many times and visited every state in the USA. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 pm Thursday, December 20th in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Robby Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband of sixty years, Bruce Green Allen, Sr.of Rockingham and sons, Bruce G. Allen, Jr. and wife Wendy, Richard Clayton Allen, and Thomas Craig Allen and wife Allison; three grandchildren, Bruce Green Allen III, Rebecca J. Allen, and Ashley R. Allen; and one great grandchild, Katlin Allen. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Foster Efird, Jr., and a sister, Scottie Efird.
