Hayley Melissa Fields and Jesse Carlton “Chip” Gordon III were married at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012.

The ceremony was held in the grotto at Cypress Bend Vineyard in Wagram. Reverend Matt Seals of Zion United Methodist Church in Rockingham, officiated.

Hayley is the daughter of Ms. Karen Smith Fields and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bruce Fields of Hamlet. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Smith of Rockingham, and Mrs. Faye Fields of Hamlet. Hayley is a 2005 graduate of Richmond Senior High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is pursuing her Masters degree in Instructional Technology from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Hayley is employed with Richmond County Schools and is currently working at Hamlet Middle School.

Chip is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Carlton Gordon of Hamlet. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marion Adams of Rockingham, and Mr. Jesse Gordon and the late Mrs. Mattie Gordon of Hamlet. He is a 2004 graduate of Richmond Senior High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Chip is employed with Richmond County Schools and is currently working at Rohanen Middle School. He is also a Junior Varsity baseball coach at Richmond Senior High School.

The bride was escorted to the alter by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The maid of honor was Ms. Katie Lin Sessoms of Wilmington. The matron of honor was Mrs. Jenny Lynn Ayers of Raleigh. Bridesmaids were Ms. Brittney Caron Robich of Wilmington, Ms. Kayla Michelle DePrizio of Wilmington, and Mrs. Melanie O’Neal Sessoms of Clinton.

The groom’s best man was Mr. Jesse Carlton Gordon, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Mr. Walter Matthew Gordon, brother of the groom, of Hamlet, Mr. Adam Ross Sullivan, cousin of the groom, of Greenville, Dr. James Andrew Sugg of Tampa Bay, Fla., Mr. Daniel Grey Gregory of Charlotte, and Mr. Seth Riggan Burgess of Charlotte.

Assisting with the wedding were Mrs. Michelle Fugate Burns of Rockingham, Ms. Michelle Danielle Hewitt of Raleigh, Mr. Steven Michael Steele and Ms. Carly Primm of Jacksonville, Fla. The wedding was directed by Mr. Ray McDaniel of Laurinburg.

The bride’s parents hosted a reception on the grounds of Cypress Bend Vineyard after the ceremony.

The couple left that evening for a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia, at a Sandals Resort. They have made their home in Hamlet.
