Prayerful perseverance is an alternative

Dear Editor,

Several weeks ago I noticed a new item on a novelty stand at a local business I patronize. The figurine depicted a “Gothic style” scantily clad female in fishnet hose, bikini panties, and a plunging neckline hanging on a cross.

As a Christian, I experienced a myriad of emotions ranging the gamut from anger to spiritual anguish. To some it would be a work of art, for me it was sacrilege.

After a time of prayerful reflection, I contacted the manager of the business who very graciously removed the offensive item. The company certainly has the right to display and market whatever products they so desire, however they chose to listen to the concerns of one customer.

In the recent wake of worldwide violence and bloodshed over a video, and the shooting of a teenager who just wanted to go to school, it is a comfort to know prayerful perseverance is the alternative to religious jihad.
