Ruby Holmes Lassiter, 79, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her home. She was born March 10, 1933 in Richmond County a daughter of the late, Oscar P. and Bessie M. Long. Mrs. Lassiter was a member of Temple Baptist Church and retired from JP Stevens.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 3:30 pm in the chapel of Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann McGlothen; brothers, Oscar P. Long, Jr., Worth Long, Tom Long, and Henry Long; sisters, Nancy Craven, Nettie Crudo, Mary Killough, and Audrey Olsen.

Surviving are her husband, William Winfred Lassiter, Jr. of the home; a sister, Ina Mae Sellers of Laurinburg; children, Clayton Holmes, Jr. of Hamlet, Rhonda Pate of Rockingham, and Betty ‘Betsy’ Barfield of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Holmes, Kim and Dana Pate, and Jeff Baldwin, Eric and Jessica Barfield; and nine great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 21, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
